Missouri Semi-truck accident injures teens in Jeep on I-70

MONTGOMERY, MO, (April 10, 2026) — Two teenagers were seriously injured Friday afternoon in a crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 70 in Montgomery County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a Kenworth T680 semi-truck traveling eastbound attempted to merge into the left lane near mile marker 172 at approximately 4:08 p.m. when it collided with a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The impact forced the Jeep off the roadway and into the median. Two 15-year-old passengers in the SUV sustained severe injuries and were transported to University Hospital for treatment.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Large commercial trucks can weigh up to 80,000 pounds, and when they collide with smaller vehicles, the consequences can be severe.

According to the National Safety Council, approximately 150,000 people are injured each year in crashes involving large trucks, with nearly 4,900 fatalities reported annually.

“Crashes involving commercial vehicles are often complex and can involve multiple contributing factors,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“An experienced attorney can help protect victims from trucking companies, which often deploy their own investigators and have extensive resources to defend negligent drivers,” Bond added.

“Legal representation can include hiring expert witnesses, conducting background checks on drivers, locating witnesses, and reviewing insurance coverage, all while guiding victims through the legal process,” Bond said.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Following the investigation, the injured victims may have the option to pursue personal injury claims. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, noted that the impact of serious injuries can be overwhelming, affecting victims’ daily lives, finances, and well-being.

“It is important for victims to retain an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, as legal counsel can negotiate with insurance companies on their behalf,” Formica said.

He added, “Insurance companies often attempt to pressure victims into accepting quick settlements that are far below what their claims are worth. An attorney will advocate to ensure fair compensation and proper treatment.”
