Pedestrian deaths continue to rise on U.S. roads each year. These deaths are preventable, and drivers can help stop them by staying attentive behind the wheel. Approximately 2,304 pedestrians were struck and killed by drivers on U.S. roads in the first half of 2024, according to a report from the Governors Highway Safety Association.

Drunk driving isn’t just reckless — it’s deadly, claiming an average of 34 lives every day in the United States, and all of those deaths are preventable. In 2023, 12,429 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, the family of Duo Ying Liang may be entitled to a wrongful death claim for medical and funeral expenses, loss of love and companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.

“A death is considered wrongful when a person or entity’s negligent or wrongful act results in someone’s death,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.

“When a fatal vehicle crash stems from unsafe driving, aggressive or distracted driving, speeding, a hit-and-run, or driving under the influence, family members generally have the option to pursue a civil claim against the driver responsible.”
