BRADENTON, Fla. — Police charged a local man with DUI manslaughter after his car collided with a motorcycle Monday night, resulting in one death and critical injuries.
The crash occurred just before 10:15 p.m. at the intersection of 42nd Avenue W and 59th Street W. Milton May, 52, of Bradenton, was traveling east when he moved into the path of a northbound motorcycle.
A 35-year-old woman riding as a passenger on the motorcycle died from her injuries. The 28-year-old male operator suffered critical injuries and remains in intensive care at a local hospital.
Investigators did not release the victims’ names.
May stayed at the crash scene but displayed signs of impairment, the Bradenton Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit reported. He declined to take field sobriety tests and was taken to a hospital for a court-ordered blood test.
Authorities charged May with DUI manslaughter and DUI with serious bodily injury. Police said additional charges may follow as their investigation progresses.
