Millen crash kills pedestrian Damon Williams, GSP reports

MILLEN, GA, (March 25, 2026) – A 37-year-old man was killed Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Millen, authorities said.

The Georgia State Patrol reported that shortly after 6 a.m., a Nissan Altima traveling north on State Route 121, just south of North Avenue, hit a pedestrian attempting to cross the roadway. The victim, identified as Damon Williams by the Jenkins County Coroner’s Office, succumbed to his injuries while being flown to Wellstar MCG.

GSP continues to investigate the incident.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Pedestrians are inherently vulnerable on roadways, which makes it critical for drivers to exercise caution and yield the right-of-way. Over the past decade, pedestrian deaths have increased at a rate nearly seven times faster than overall U.S. population growth, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA).

“In most cases, pedestrians have the right of way when crossing a street or intersection, even if a marked crosswalk is not present,” said Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, emphasized that an independent investigation by a qualified attorney is crucial to protect the rights of the victim’s family. “In incidents like this, timely evidence collection is essential to accurately determine the cause and circumstances of the crash,” she added, serving as a national legal analyst for Accident Injury News.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

“It is almost always a driver’s duty to yield to any pedestrian,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal. The family of Damon Williams may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim.

“Surviving family members may seek compensation for loss of income, companionship, emotional distress, pain and suffering, and funeral expenses,” Formica said. “An attorney can serve as an advocate, guiding the family through this difficult period while protecting their legal rights.”

“Insurance companies frequently attempt to offer quick settlements for far less than a claim’s value,” he added. “A skilled attorney will vigorously advocate for the family to ensure they are treated with respect and receive appropriate compensation.”
