Milan Racak booked after Treasure Island DUI crash

TREASURE ISLAND, FL (March 28, 2026) – Milan John Racak, 42, has been charged after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop and crashing his vehicle Saturday night in Treasure Island, injuring six people.

According to the Treasure Island Police Department, an officer spotted Racak driving an Audi A7 at a high rate of speed along Gulf Boulevard. When the officer attempted to initiate a stop, Racak fled the scene.

At approximately 9:56 p.m., Racak reportedly lost control of his vehicle near 104th Avenue. The Audi struck a utility pole and then crashed into a vacant building, causing significant property damage.

Authorities confirmed that the building was unoccupied at the time of the collision.

Six individuals were transported to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Four victims were taken to a trauma center, while two others were treated at separate medical facilities.

Following his release from the hospital, Racak was booked into the Pinellas County Jail. He faces multiple charges, including DUI, fleeing or eluding with serious bodily injury or death, and two counts of DUI with serious bodily injury.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the crash.

DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

This accident was clearly preventable. Impaired drivers pose a serious danger to everyone on the roadway and can forever change lives in an instant.

“Drunken and drugged drivers are subject to criminal charges following an accident or collision that causes harm or kills another person,” explained Candice Bond, a Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“Separate from criminal charges, the family of a victim may be eligible for compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party,” Bond added.

According to the National Safety Council, approximately 10 percent of all fatal automobile accidents involve drivers impaired by alcohol, drugs, or medications. These crashes remain the second-leading cause of traffic-related deaths in the United States.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

An injured victim may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim pending an investigation.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often pursue a personal injury claim to address medical expenses, anticipated future care, lost income, emotional distress, and pain and suffering.”

“Insurance companies are often indifferent to the growing costs faced by injured victims. An experienced attorney can make a difference. We advocate for victims every day, ensuring insurance companies are held accountable for their obligations,” he added.
