Sheriff: Michael Swidrak Dies in Mettawa Motorcycle Crash on R-60

METTAWA, IL, (July 06, 2026) – A 43-year-old motorcyclist from Mundelein was killed in a motorcycle crash Monday in Mettawa.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Swidrak was headed west on Route 60 and proceeding through a green light at Saint Mary’s Road just before 9 p.m. when the driver of a Chevrolet Trax traveling east on Route 60 turned left in front of him. Swidrak collided with the passenger side of the Chevrolet and was ejected from the motorcycle, then struck a southbound Hyundai sedan.

Swidrak was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
