NACOGDOCHES, TX, (April 18, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash in Nacogdoches County on Saturday morning left one man injured and claimed the lives of two others, according to authorities.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the crash occurred at approximately 9:54 a.m. at a stop-controlled intersection along FM 941 and U.S. 59. Investigators said a northbound Toyota Corolla failed to yield and entered the path of a northeastbound GMC Canyon.
The GMC, driven by Michael Smith, 45, of Nacogdoches, struck the Toyota. Smith sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Both occupants of the Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
