Michael Querns, Cevonte Lewis injured as truck hits tree in Lincoln CO MS

LINCOLN, MS, (April 22, 2026) – Two passengers were injured and a driver was killed Tuesday afternoon following a single-vehicle crash in Lincoln County.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. when a northbound 2009 Isuzu NPR traveled off the west side of Highway 51 and collided with a tree.

Authorities identified the injured passengers as Michael Querns, 28, and Cevonte Lewis, 20. Both individuals sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is actively investigating the crash. At this time, the cause of the incident has not been determined.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Candice Bond, an experienced commercial accident attorney, emphasized that in cases like this, conducting a prompt and independent investigation is crucial to safeguard victims’ rights.

“Commercial accidents frequently involve multiple contributing factors,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“An experienced attorney can help protect victims from trucking companies, which often deploy their own investigators and have extensive resources to defend a negligent driver.

“Legal counsel can support victims by securing expert testimony, reviewing driver history, identifying witnesses, and examining insurance policies, while guiding them through every step of the legal process.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, injured victims may be entitled to pursue a personal injury claim. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, explained that the aftermath of a serious injury often brings significant stress and disruption to daily life.

“It is important for victims to retain an attorney when pursuing a personal injury case, as legal representation allows for proper negotiation with insurance companies,” Formica said.

“Insurance providers may attempt to push for quick settlements that are far below the true value of a claim. An attorney, however, will advocate strongly on behalf of the victim to help ensure fair treatment and appropriate compensation.”
