MIAMI-DADE, FL (April 5, 2026) – A 43-year-old man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist critically injured Sunday evening, authorities said.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 6 p.m. in the 2600 block of Southwest 139th Avenue when a motorist struck a cyclist and fled the scene.
The victim was later found in a ditch with severe injuries and was airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center in critical condition.
Deputies located a beige Nissan Altima nearby that had been concealed under a blanket and showed fresh crash damage. Investigators identified the vehicle’s owner as Dwayne Lamont White.
White told authorities the bicyclist had thrown a brick at his windshield before the crash. He was arrested and charged with attempted premeditated murder and leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury.
The investigation remains ongoing.
