Mhairi Scott Ejected in USPS Truck Rollover Crash, OSHP Says

FULTON TOWNSHIP, OH (June 5, 2026) — A postal worker sustained serious injuries Friday morning after the United States Postal Service delivery truck she was operating was struck by a passing vehicle and overturned in Fulton Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).

Troopers identified the injured driver as Mhairi Scott, 33, of Delta. OSHP said Scott was operating a 1987 Chevrolet USPS delivery truck westbound on County Road K at approximately 10:36 a.m. when a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, traveling in the same direction, attempted to pass the mail truck near County Road 6-1. The Cruze collided with the USPS vehicle during the passing attempt, sending the mail truck off the roadway. The delivery truck overturned before coming to a complete stop.

Scott was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the crash and was subsequently airlifted to Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center, where she was admitted for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze, a 57-year-old man whose identity has not been released, was evaluated and treated at the scene.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said an investigation into the crash is currently underway. No charges have been publicly announced at this time.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Traffic statutes are clear — motorists are required to exercise caution and sound judgment before attempting to pass any vehicle on a public roadway. Passing is strictly prohibited when sufficient space is unavailable or when hazardous conditions are present. Regardless of the conclusions reached by the official police investigation, Candice Bond, a seasoned auto accident attorney, emphasized that retaining an attorney to carry out an independent inquiry into the crash is essential to preserving critical evidence and fully protecting the rights of an injured victim.

Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows that approximately 2.2 million people were injured in motor vehicle accidents across the United States in 2023 alone — a stark reminder of the ongoing dangers on American roads.

Bond further stressed that in situations like this one, launching an independent investigation as early as possible is key to ensuring that valuable physical and documentary evidence does not deteriorate or disappear over time.

“In addition to a police report, an attorney will carefully review what may have contributed to the crash,” said Bond, Managing Partner with Bond Legal. “A lawyer has the resources to hire expert witnesses, conduct drivers’ background checks, locate witnesses to the crash, and review applicable insurance coverage. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help guide an injury victim through what can be a complicated process.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation, Mhairi Scott may have the legal right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit and seek compensation for the harm she has suffered. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, acknowledged that the physical and emotional burden of a serious injury can be all-consuming, touching every corner of a victim’s life — from their relationships and career to their finances and day-to-day quality of life.

“It is vital for victims to hire an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, which allows them to negotiate with an insurance company on behalf of a client,” said Formica.

“Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting costs that an injured party may accrue. An attorney can help. We protect the victims of these tragedies daily, forcing the insurance companies to pay for their mistakes,” he added.

Injured victims are urged to seek experienced legal representation without delay to ensure their interests are protected from the very start of the claims process.
