Melody Newhouse Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash in Farmersville

FARMERSVILLE, TX, (September 25, 2026) – Melody Newhouse, a Farmersville High School sophomore, died Friday after being involved in a two-vehicle crash outside her school, authorities said.

Newhouse was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the collision on Highway 78 outside Farmersville High School.

Both drivers were hospitalized with injuries following the crash.

Investigators have not yet determined the exact mechanics of the collision. The Farmersville Police Department is investigating, and no additional details have been released.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Numerous factors contribute to the rise in traffic fatalities, with driver behavior among them, including speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and distracted driving, particularly cellphone use. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported that 8,055 lives were lost in motor vehicle collisions during the first quarter of 2025.

As the cause and liability of the crash are being investigated, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, said it is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by a seasoned attorney.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview key witnesses, examine surveillance video from the crash scene and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Time is of the essence in cases such as this one, and the victim’s family must ensure that evidence is reviewed efficiently.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

While the investigation remains pending, the family of a victim may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress after a tragic or catastrophic accident such as this.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand what families are forced to go through, and protecting their rights is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will remain informed about the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.”
