JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ark.— Authorities are investigating a two-vehicle crash on April 12 that left one man dead and another critically injured.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported the accident occurred at approximately 11:01 p.m. on S. Hazel Street near 41st Avenue. A white Nissan Altima traveling south collided with a northbound GMC Sierra. The impact ejected the GMC driver from the vehicle.
Investigators identified Matthew Williams, a 37-year-old resident of Jefferson County, as the driver of the Nissan. Emergency responders pronounced Williams dead at the scene, according to Jefferson County Deputy Coroner’s Office.
The GMC’s driver, a 38-year-old man, was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center with critical injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
