Maryanne Craig, Dylon Craig killed in Dodge pickup collision near Monroe

MONROE, WA (April 18, 2026) — Two people were killed early Saturday in a head-on crash along Highway 2 near Monroe, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Authorities identified the victims as Maryanne Craig and Dylon Craig, both 33, of Gold Bar. They were traveling in a Dodge Dakota pickup when the collision occurred at approximately 12:18 a.m.

Investigators said the crash happened when the driver of a Cadillac SRX attempted to pass another vehicle and collided head-on with the pickup.

Both Maryanne and Dylon Craig died at the scene. A 28-year-old passenger in the Cadillac was injured and transported to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett.

The incident remains under investigation.

HEAD-ON CRASH INVESTIGATION

Motorists are often permitted to pass other vehicles, but unsafe passing maneuvers can lead to devastating crashes like this one.

Traffic laws require drivers to exercise caution when passing and prohibit such actions when there is insufficient space or when hazards are present.

Regardless of the outcome of the police investigation, Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, noted that it is critical to retain legal counsel to conduct an independent investigation to secure evidence and protect victims’ rights.

“Time is critical in cases like this, and families must ensure that evidence is examined promptly,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“In addition to law enforcement efforts, an attorney will thoroughly evaluate all contributing factors and has the resources to engage expert witnesses, review driver histories, locate witnesses, and analyze insurance coverage. Acting as an advocate, an attorney can help guide clients through this difficult time while protecting their legal rights and interests.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The families of Dylon Craig and Maryanne Craig may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving relatives may seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional distress, and pain and suffering resulting from such a tragic event.

“We understand the immense challenges families face after such a loss, and protecting their rights is essential,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.

“A wrongful death attorney will stay informed on the progress of the investigation and work to ensure that the family’s best interests are represented. Families are entitled to pursue damages for the loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other impacts following a tragic accident.”
