FATAL TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigations Unit is working to determine the cause of the fatal crash.

Roughly 36,000 people die in motor vehicle accidents across the country each year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that speeding remains the leading cause of fatal crashes, followed by impairment from alcohol, drugs, or medication, failing to maintain a proper lane, failing to yield the right of way, and distracted driving.

Candice Bond, a seasoned accident attorney, explained that alongside the thorough work performed by law enforcement, it is critical in cases like this to launch a prompt, independent investigation to preserve evidence and protect the rights of victims’ families.

“As attorneys, it’s our responsibility to provide families who have lost someone in an accident with both legal guidance and support,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “We work to protect your rights and ensure that statements made to police or insurance companies aren’t later used against you.”

Bond added, “An attorney will thoroughly examine what may have contributed to the crash and has the resources to bring in expert witnesses, conduct background checks on drivers, locate witnesses, and review applicable insurance coverage. Acting as an advocate, an attorney can compassionately guide families through this difficult period while fiercely protecting their legal rights and interests.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, the family of Mary Elizabeth Simmons may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim covering medical and funeral expenses, loss of love and companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.

“A death is classified as wrongful when a person or entity’s negligent or wrongful conduct directly leads to someone’s death,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “When fatal vehicle accidents stem from unsafe driving, aggressive or distracted behavior, speeding, or driving under the influence, surviving family members typically have the option to pursue civil action against the driver responsible.”
