State Police: Marvin Harmon Hurt in Rochester Wrong-Way Crash

ROCHESTER, NY — June 26, 2026 — A wrong-way driver on the Rochester Inner Loop triggered a chain-reaction crash in the early hours of Friday morning that left one man hospitalized and two others dead, the New York State Police confirmed.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:26 a.m. when a Honda CR-V, driven by a 39-year-old woman, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of the Inner Loop. The Honda collided head-on with a Ford Fusion. The force of that initial impact sent the Ford Fusion into the path of a Jeep Liberty operated by Marvin Harmon, 29, resulting in a second collision.

Harmon sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. The severity of his injuries was not immediately specified by authorities.

The driver of the Ford Fusion, a 21-year-old man, and his 21-year-old passenger were both killed as a result of the crash. The wrong-way driver’s condition was not disclosed in the initial report.

The incident remains under active investigation by the New York State Police.

WRONG-WAY ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

According to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), driver error is the leading cause of wrong-way accidents on American roadways. These dangerous crashes are frequently linked to drunk driving, distracted driving, poor road design, and driver disorientation.

The severity of such incidents is reflected in national data — the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety recorded 2,008 deaths resulting from wrong-way driving crashes on divided highways between 2015 and 2018 alone.

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, said that in situations like this, it is critical to engage a reputable law firm as early as possible to conduct an independent investigation and preserve vital evidence before it is lost.

“In addition to a police report, an attorney will carefully review what may have contributed to the crash,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Your lawyer has the resources to hire expert witnesses, conduct driver background checks, locate witnesses to the crash, and review applicable insurance coverage. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a family during this difficult time, while protecting their legal rights.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Marvin Harmon may have legal grounds to pursue a personal injury lawsuit as a result of this crash. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, observed that the physical, emotional, and financial strain that follows a serious injury can be devastating, affecting every dimension of a person’s life, including family, work, finances, and overall quality of life.

“Although no amount of money can make up for a devastating injury, it is important that a victim is made fully aware of their rights and what they are entitled to under the law,” Formica said. “The injured victim in this collision may be entitled to a personal injury claim, and they may seek recovery for damages including medical expenses, future medical care, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.”
