Edinburg, TX, (May 02, 2026) — Martha Luna Miranda, 39, was killed and four others were injured following a late Saturday night crash at a busy intersection in Edinburg, authorities said.
According to the Edinburg Police Department, officers responded to the intersection of Salinas Street and W. Monte Cristo Road after receiving reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a truck.
Investigators determined that a westbound truck failed to stop at a red light and struck a vehicle traveling through the intersection.
Miranda, who was driving the vehicle, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency crews treated four passengers in her vehicle, including her husband and their three young children. The husband was released after receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Two children, ages 5 and 9, were transported to a medical facility in San Antonio for further care. A 4-year-old girl was also treated and later released.
The truck driver, identified as 31-year-old Miguel Angel Suarez, is facing pending charges of intoxication manslaughter and multiple counts of intoxication assault.
The Edinburg Police Department continues to investigate the crash.
