MCALLEN, Texas — A speeding car ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle, causing fatal injuries.
Authorities identified the deceased as Marlene Delgadillo, 30. Officials said she was a passenger in a Ford Fiesta and suffered critical injuries.
Investigators said the accident happened May 7 at approximately 11:38 p.m. in the 5100 block of Buddy Owens Boulevard. Emergency personnel transported Delgadillo to a hospital, where she later died.
Officials said a Toyota Camry, driven by a 46-year-old man from Mission, struck the Ford Fiesta at the intersection of Taylor Road. The driver of the Fiesta, a 29-year-old woman from McAllen, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.
Authorities arrested the driver of the Camry on May 18. He was booked into the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center on charges of manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
