HIT-AND-RUN CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal hit-and-run collision.

Drivers involved in crashes have legal obligations, including remaining at the scene and ensuring that injured victims receive appropriate medical care. The individual who struck Wharton and fled will likely face criminal charges once identified.

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Mark W. Wharton may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim for damages such as funeral expenses, loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.
