LAREDO, Tex. — Laredo police are investigating a hit-and-run SUV accident on June 15 that left two women hospitalized in critical condition.
Officers responded at approximately 9:00 a.m. to the 1300 block of E. Ryan Street, where a vehicle reportedly struck two pedestrians. According to police, a 2010 Cadillac SRX allegedly hit the women as they crossed the street and then fled without rendering aid.
Authorities identified 71-year-old Maria Delugdes Martinez as one of the victims. Emergency crews transported her to Brooke Army Medical Center for treatment. The second victim, a 63-year-old woman, remains hospitalized. Her identity has not been released.
Police arrested a 39-year-old man from Laredo in connection with the incident. Officers charged him with two counts of causing an accident involving serious bodily injury.
Law enforcement reviewed surveillance footage and recovered the vehicle prior to the arrest. The case remains under investigation.
