LODI, CA, (May 19, 2026) – A tractor-trailer driver has been arrested following a fatal multi-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 99 in Lodi that left at least two people dead, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said 24-year-old Manvir Singh was operating a commercial tractor-trailer around 12:20 p.m. when the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a guardrail near Harney Lane. The initial impact reportedly triggered a chain-reaction collision involving three additional vehicles.
Officials confirmed that two individuals were killed in the crash. Investigators also allege that Singh fled the scene on foot before being located and taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies.
Singh was booked on charges including vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit-and-run resulting in death. His bail was set at $185,000.
The California Highway Patrol and San Joaquin County authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.
