Magnet Cove Crash Claims Life of Jeri Winiecki, Injures Ryan

Magnet Cove, AR (January 08, 2026) – One person was killed and four others were injured Thursday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 270 in Magnet Cove, according to authorities.

An Arkansas State Police report stated that a westbound 2010 Cadillac crossed the center dividing line around 3:26 p.m. and struck an eastbound 2025 Buick driven by Jeri Winiecki of Hot Springs. The impact forced the Buick off the roadway, where it overturned.

Winiecki, 43, died as a result of the crash. A passenger in her vehicle, identified as 18-year-old Ryan Winiecki, was injured. Three occupants of the Cadillac also sustained injuries. Further details were not immediately released.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 40,901 people were killed in traffic crashes nationwide in 2023, including 596 fatalities in the state of Arkansas.

According to the NHTSA, speeding is the leading cause of fatal collisions, followed by impairment from alcohol, drugs, or medication, failure to remain in the proper lane, failure to yield the right of way, and distracted driving.

“Roadway conditions, visibility, and lighting are among the factors that are reviewed and analyzed during a crash investigation,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

Bond explained that determining the precise cause of a collision is critical. Attorneys have the ability to review applicable insurance policies, retain expert witnesses, conduct background checks, and locate witnesses while guiding families through the legal process.

“In some cases, accident reconstruction specialists are brought in to help determine exactly how the crash occurred,” Bond said. “These investigative resources are essential when assisting clients who have suffered losses or damages as a result of a serious collision.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Jeri Winiecki may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.

“The emotional burden following the sudden loss of a loved one can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand the challenges families face during these difficult times, and protecting their legal rights is essential,” Formica said. “A wrongful death attorney will monitor the investigation closely and work to ensure that a family’s rights and best interests are preserved.”

Formica added that legal counsel can shield families from large insurance companies and their legal teams while thoroughly examining the facts of the crash and advocating aggressively on the family’s behalf.
