Maggie Driggs Dies After UTV Plunges Down Embankment

WEBSTER, WV, (September 05, 2026) – Two people were killed Saturday night in a UTV crash near Bergoo in Webster County, according to the Webster County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said a UTV traveling on Bergoo Road ran off the roadway and plunged approximately 75 feet down an embankment at about 7:30 p.m.

One of the occupants, identified as 24-year-old Maggie Driggs of Charleston, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second occupant also died at the scene. A third occupant was transported to a local hospital and was later released.

Additional details were not initially released as authorities continue to investigate the crash.

UTV ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

According to Consumer Product Safety Commission statistics, about 568 adults and 144 children die each year in ATV and UTV crashes, while many more suffer injuries.

Candice Bond, a Managing Partner at Bond Legal and national analyst for Accident Injury News, said that in cases like this, it is important to have an independent investigation conducted sooner rather than later to preserve available evidence.

“In addition to a police report, an attorney will carefully review what may have contributed to the crash,” said Bond, an experienced UTV accident attorney.

“Your lawyer has the resources to hire expert witnesses, conduct background checks, locate witnesses to the crash and review applicable insurance coverage. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help guide an injury victim through what can be a complicated process.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, Maggie Driggs’ family could pursue wrongful death claims. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident such as this.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand what families must go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.”

“An attorney can protect victims from large insurance companies and their team of lawyers while diligently examining the facts of the accident. An attorney will vigorously advocate for a family who has lost a loved one, ensuring that their legal rights are protected.”
