Lynn Stalker Killed in Mille Lacs County Head-On Wreck With Buick

ONAMIA, MN, (May 11, 2026) – A 74-year-old Wahkon woman lost her life Monday morning in a two-vehicle collision near Steven’s Road in Onamia, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities said the crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m. when a westbound Buick LeSabre attempted to cross U.S. 169 and was struck by a northbound Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The driver of the Buick was identified as Lynn Martha Stalker. Emergency responders from Mille Lacs Health System Ambulance, Onamia Police, and other agencies arrived at the scene, where Stalker was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Ford pickup, a 50-year-old woman from Foley, sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening and was transported to Mille Lacs Health Systems for treatment.

Investigators confirmed that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision and that alcohol was not considered a contributing factor in the crash.

The Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

A variety of factors continue to contribute to the rise in deadly traffic accidents, including speeding, impaired driving, and distracted driving linked to cellphone use. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 8,055 people died in motor vehicle crashes during the first quarter of 2025.

As authorities work to determine the cause and liability in this crash, Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst with Accident Injury News, emphasized the importance of an independent investigation conducted by an experienced attorney.

“In addition to the thorough efforts of law enforcement, an attorney can revisit key witness statements, review surveillance footage from the area, and secure phone and text records connected to the liable party,” Bond said.

“Time is critical in cases like these, and it is important that the victim’s family ensure all evidence is preserved and examined promptly.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, the family of the victim may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Relatives of wrongful death victims can seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other damages resulting from a catastrophic accident.

“The grief and emotional trauma following the unexpected loss of a loved one can be devastating,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand the tremendous challenges families face after a tragedy like this, and protecting their legal rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney can monitor the official investigation and help ensure that the family’s best interests remain protected throughout the process.”
