FORT MYERS, Fla. — Fort Myers Police arrested a suspect on June 9 after he allegedly drove under the influence and crashed into a taco stand.
Officers responded to a crash report at around 11:18 p.m. at La Mexicana Taco Stand at 4195 Palm Beach Boulevard.
Luis Alejandro Velasquez Herrera allegedly crashed his vehicle into the business’s outdoor seating area, injuring nine people, including several children.
EMS transported the victims to an area hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening, according to authorities. Police have not released specific details about their conditions.
Police determined Herrera was intoxicated at the time of the crash and arrested him at the scene.
Herrera faces 10 counts of driving under the influence. The Fort Myers Police Department continues investigating the crash.
