ST. LOUIS, Mo. — A 58-year-old man was died on June 20 after being struck by a vehicle in north St. Louis.
Lionell Alexander was crossing the street at the intersection of W. Florissant and Pope Avenues when a vehicle struck him. The crash occurred near the border of the city’s O’Fallon and Penrose neighborhoods.
The driver fled the scene immediately after striking Alexander. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the intersection following reports of the collision.
Paramedics transported Alexander to an area hospital with critical injuries. He succumbed a short time later.
On Wednesday, police released a photo of the vehicle that struck and killed Alexander. Authorities identified it as a light-colored Mercury Mountaineer with a Missouri temporary tag on the rear. Police described the driver as a woman with a mole on the left side of her face. The suspect was wearing a bonnet at the time of the crash.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is seeking public assistance in locating the suspect.
