Lincoln County Head-On Crash Injures Jenny Fiddyment Wiens

LINCOLN, OR (July 2, 2026) — A Salem woman suffered serious injuries Thursday morning in a head-on collision on Highway 18 near Otis in Lincoln County, according to Oregon State Police.

Investigators said 63-year-old Jenny Fiddyment Wiens was driving a Ford pickup truck westbound when an eastbound Nissan pickup, driven by a 35-year-old man, allegedly crossed into the westbound lane at approximately 10:10 a.m. and struck her vehicle head-on.

Wiens sustained serious injuries in the collision and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities said the driver of the Nissan was killed in the crash.

Oregon State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Incident Location

HEAD-ON CRASH INVESTIGATION

Head-on accidents are among the most serious motor vehicle crashes due to the force involved when two vehicles traveling in opposite directions collide.

Although they account for only two percent of all traffic accidents, they are responsible for approximately 10 percent of all motor vehicle fatalities. Head-on crashes frequently result in severe injuries, including traumatic brain injuries (TBIs).

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, said in cases such as this, it is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by an experienced lawyer to help preserve evidence for an injured victim.

“An attorney can gather the evidence necessary to help establish whether a driver’s actions were reckless, which often requires extensive resources,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Serving as an advocate, an attorney can compassionately guide an injured victim and their family through this difficult time while protecting their legal rights and best interests, and helping ensure that drivers who fail to obey traffic laws are held accountable.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Jenny Fiddyment Wiens may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, noted that the physical, emotional, and financial challenges following a serious injury can be overwhelming, affecting nearly every aspect of a person’s life, including family, work, finances, and overall well-being.

“Although no amount of compensation can undo the effects of a devastating injury, it is important that victims understand their legal rights and the remedies available to them under the law,” Formica added. “The injured victim in this collision may be entitled to pursue a personal injury claim and seek compensation for medical expenses, future medical care, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.”
