CHICAGO — A fatal accident occurred on May 27 at 8:27 p.m. in the 2400 block of W. Jackson Boulevard, leaving one dead and another injured.
Lester Jackson was driving a white sedan westbound on Jackson Boulevard when a southbound black car on Western Avenue ran a red light. The impact sent both vehicles into a pole and a fence.
Emergency responders transported Jackson, 79, to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His passenger, a 62-year-old Chicago woman, sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The driver of the black car fled the scene on foot before authorities arrived.
Police continue to search for the suspect while reviewing details surrounding the accident.
