Lesly Guevara Dies in Cicero Crash; Driver Faces DUI Charges

CICERO, IL (June 25, 2026) — Lesly Guevara, 25, was killed early Thursday morning in a suspected DUI-related two-vehicle crash in Cicero that also left another woman critically injured, according to the Cicero Police Department.

Police said the collision occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m. on Ogden Avenue near 50th Court when a motorist entered the roadway and collided with an eastbound vehicle.

Guevara, who was a passenger in the first vehicle, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 27-year-old woman driving Guevara’s vehicle sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities said the 23-year-old driver of the eastbound vehicle is being held on DUI-related charges as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Despite ongoing enforcement efforts across the country, impaired driving continues to pose a serious risk to innocent motorists and passengers.

Alcohol consumption can greatly reduce a driver’s ability to safely operate a vehicle by impairing judgment, vision, coordination, and reaction time. Drivers who choose to get behind the wheel while impaired place everyone on the road at risk.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), approximately 37 people die in alcohol-related crashes every day in the United States. About 32% of all traffic fatalities involve drivers with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher. In Illinois, an estimated 471 people were killed in alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes in 2022.

An independent investigation will be necessary to determine additional contributing factors in the collision, including the driver’s blood-alcohol concentration and other relevant evidence.

Candice Bond, an experienced DUI accident attorney, shared her perspective on crashes involving suspected impaired drivers.

“In addition to the work completed by law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview key witnesses, review surveillance footage from the crash scene, and obtain phone and texting records from the responsible party,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “An attorney also serves as an advocate for victims, helping protect their legal rights while working to ensure impaired drivers are held accountable for the harm they cause.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Lesly Guevara may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members may seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional distress, pain and suffering, and other damages resulting from a fatal collision.

“The grief and emotional burden following the loss of a loved one in a serious accident can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal.

“Families deserve to have their legal rights protected during this difficult time. An experienced wrongful death attorney can monitor the official investigation, provide guidance throughout the legal process, and help safeguard the family’s best interests.”
