STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— A fatal accident at an Amazon facility in Bloomfield claimed one life late April 9, authorities confirmed.
The accident occurred just before 11 p.m. at a loading dock at 546 Gulf Avenue. Emergency responders transported the injured to Richmond University Medical Center for treatment.
Officials identified Leony Salcedo-Chevalier, a 34-year-old man from Perth Amboy, N.J. as the victim who died in the accident. Authorities stated that a box truck reversed into Salcedo-Chevalier while he stood behind it near the dock.
The driver of the truck, a 40-year-old man, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The New York Police Department confirmed the investigation is ongoing.
