LUBBOCK, TX, (March 28, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash in Lubbock County Saturday night claimed the life of Leo Schneider and left several others injured, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Authorities said the crash occurred around 10 p.m. on FM 1585, just east of Avenue P, when a 2021 Ford Mustang rear-ended a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup. The impact pushed the pickup into the westbound lane, where it collided head-on with a 2017 Nissan Armada.
Schneider, a Slaton ISD high school science teacher who was driving the SUV, was transported to University Medical Center, where he later died.
Six occupants of the Dodge Ram were hospitalized with moderate injuries.
The Mustang driver, a 28-year-old Lubbock man, was not injured and was arrested on a charge of intoxication manslaughter.
