Lebanon accident on Ohio 48 injures Jennifer Shockey, OSHP says

LEBANON, OH, (April 21, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in Lebanon left a Pleasant Plain woman and two others seriously injured, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).

The crash occurred shortly before 4 a.m. near Arrow Springs Boulevard along Ohio 48. Authorities said a southbound Chevrolet Suburban veered out of its lane, crossed the median, and struck a northbound Chevrolet Traverse. The Suburban then collided with a 2012 Honda Civic before overturning and coming to rest across the roadway.

Jennifer Shockey, 42, sustained serious injuries in the collision and was transported to Atrium Medical Center for treatment. Another driver, who was operating the Civic, was also seriously injured and taken to TriHealth Bethesda North Hospital.

Officials reported that the driver of the Suburban fled the scene on foot following the crash. Law enforcement later located the individual at a medical facility, and he was subsequently airlifted to a hospital for evaluation of minor injuries.

The northbound lanes of Ohio 48 were closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene.

The OSHP continues to investigate the crash. No charges have been announced at this time.

HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Leaving the scene of a crash is a criminal offense, and data indicates that roughly 11 percent of all accidents involve a hit-and-run driver. In many situations, drivers attempt to evade responsibility by fleeing, but they often face legal consequences once identified.

Attorney Candice Bond stressed the importance of conducting a timely and thorough independent investigation to safeguard victims’ rights. “Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a hit-and-run accident case and prove negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that must be fully evaluated. These steps are essential to help injured victims obtain justice and the financial compensation they deserve.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, Jennifer Shockey may be eligible to file a personal injury claim. Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, explained that the impact of a serious injury can be life-altering, affecting a victim’s family, employment, finances, and overall well-being.

“It is important for victims to retain legal representation when pursuing a personal injury claim so that negotiations with insurance companies are handled effectively,” Formica said.

“Insurance companies frequently attempt to settle claims quickly for significantly less than their actual value. An attorney, however, will advocate strongly on behalf of their client to ensure fair treatment and proper compensation,” he added.
