Lawrence Troiano dies in NE Portland motorcycle accident

PORTLAND, OR, (April 01, 2026) – Authorities have identified a motorcyclist who died following a collision earlier this month on Northeast Sandy Boulevard in Portland.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, Lawrence Troiano, 66, of Portland, was riding a 2009 Harley-Davidson between Northeast 138th Avenue and Northeast 141st Drive at approximately 12:54 a.m. when the motorcycle collided with a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu.

Emergency responders transported Troiano to a nearby hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officials confirmed that no arrests have been made.

No further details have been released as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

MOTORCYCLE CRASH INVESTIGATION

In 2023, U.S. motorcycle fatalities reached a record 6,335, accounting for 15% of all traffic-related deaths and marking the deadliest year since 1975, according to the NHTSA. With a fatality rate of 31.39 per 100 million miles traveled, improving driver awareness and strengthening roadway safety measures remain essential to preventing further tragedies.

“Motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable road users,” said Candice Bond, managing partner of Bond Legal. “Even relatively minor crashes can result in severe injuries, making it critical for all motorists to remain attentive.”

Bond, a seasoned motorcycle accident attorney, emphasized that in incidents like this, an independent investigation is crucial to safeguard the rights of the victim’s family.

“Blind spots, driver inexperience, and distracted driving frequently contribute to these types of crashes. An attorney can serve as a strong advocate, helping families navigate the legal process while ensuring accountability when traffic laws are violated.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Lawrence Troiano may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families who lose loved ones in such incidents may be eligible to seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other damages.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand the hardships families face during such times, and ensuring their rights are protected is essential. A wrongful death attorney will monitor the investigation and help safeguard the family’s legal interests.”
