TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police are investigating a two-vehicle accident involving a suspected red-light violation that later resulted in one fatality.
Officers responded at 8:12 p.m. on May 29 to the intersection of Anthony Wayne Trail and Sherwood Avenue.
A black Pontiac G6 was traveling west on Sherwood when a white Range Rover SUV struck it on the driver’s side in the intersection.
Passenger Laurie Greene, 22, of West Toledo was ejected during the crash and suffered life-threatening injuries. Greene remained hospitalized at the University of Toledo Medical Center until her death on June 11.
A 22-year-old man from Liberty Center, who drove the G6, was also ejected and hospitalized with serious injuries.
The 32-year-old male driver of the Range Rover, from Maumee, sustained serious injuries as well.
A witness told police the SUV ran a red light as traffic on Sherwood had just turned green.
The Toledo Police Department continues to investigate the incident and has not announced any charges.
