MSHP: Larry Thomas Huber dies in Route V collision near De Soto

DE SOTO, MO, (April 09, 2026) – Larry Thomas Huber, 61, of Park Hills, was killed Thursday afternoon in a motorcycle crash near De Soto in Jefferson County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Authorities said Huber was traveling northbound on Route V on a 2008 Honda VTX1300 when a southbound 2023 Ford Bronco Sport attempted to turn left onto Mount Olive. The vehicle entered Huber’s path, causing him to brake and skid before colliding with the right side of the Ford.

Huber sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 3:28 p.m. The driver of the Ford, a 54-year-old woman from Imperial, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.

FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

This tragic crash highlights the serious risks motorcyclists like Mr. Huber face on roadways each day.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 4,985 motorcyclists were killed on U.S. roads in 2018. Motorcyclist fatalities occurred 28 times more frequently than passenger vehicle deaths in crashes.

“Motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable road users, and multiple factors can contribute to fatal accidents,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“Blind spots, driver inexperience, and distractions are common causes of these collisions. Accident reconstruction specialists and even motorcycle experts are often needed to determine exactly what happened,” Bond added.

“These resources are essential in helping victims’ families pursue compensation. Attorneys have the ability to hire expert witnesses, conduct driver background checks, locate witnesses, and review insurance coverage,” said Bond, a national legal analyst for Accident Injury News.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Larry Thomas Huber may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of such victims can seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and pain and suffering following a tragic accident.

“The grief and emotional toll after losing a loved one in a crash can be overwhelming,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel at Bond Legal.

“We understand the challenges families face during such times, and it is crucial that their rights are protected. A wrongful death attorney can monitor the investigation and help ensure that the family’s legal interests are fully represented,” Formica added.
