Larry Don Armstrong killed in Wichita Falls bike crash

WICHITA FALLS, TX, (April 10, 2026) — A bicyclist was fatally injured Friday morning after being struck by a pickup truck along Seymour Highway in Wichita Falls, authorities said.

Police reported that Larry Don Armstrong was riding his bicycle in the 1800 block of Seymour Highway when he was hit by a Dodge pickup truck at approximately 8:20 a.m. The impact caused Armstrong to be thrown from the bicycle.

The driver told investigators he was watching a vehicle passing on the left and did not see Armstrong. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The crash remains under investigation.

FATAL BICYCLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

A total of 1,155 bicyclists were killed in crashes with motor vehicles in 2023, the highest number ever recorded, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Such accidents often happen when a driver is speeding, distracted, not paying attention, or fails to yield to a bicyclist.

Candice Bond, an experienced bicycle accident attorney, emphasized that in cases like this, it is critical to have an independent investigation conducted by an experienced lawyer to protect the rights of a victim’s family.

“Having the appropriate resources is vital when examining a bicycle accident and establishing whether a motorist was negligent,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and national analyst for Accident Injury News. “Factors such as road conditions, visibility of signage, and lighting must be carefully reviewed. Accident reconstruction specialists and bicycle experts are often used to piece together what occurred. These measures are essential to safeguard the legal rights of a grieving family.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of Larry Don Armstrong may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Loved ones of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain, suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic accident.

“We understand the difficulties families endure after such a loss, and ensuring their rights are protected is essential,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will stay informed on the official investigation and help ensure that the family’s best interests are represented. Relatives may pursue damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic event.”
