OSHP: Lamonie Campbell Killed in Milan Township ATV Wreck

MILAN, OH — June 20, 2026 — A 13-year-old Cleveland boy died following a violent ATV crash Sunday afternoon in Milan Township, Erie County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Lamonie Campbell was a passenger on an ATV being operated by a 10-year-old boy when the vehicle entered the eastbound lane of State Route 113 from a private drive at approximately 1:45 p.m. and was struck by a Toyota RAV4. The force of the impact caused the ATV to catch fire. The Toyota subsequently traveled off the roadway, rolled over, and struck a utility pole.

Campbell was transported to Fisher-Titus Medical Center following the crash and was later airlifted to a Cleveland hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday. The 10-year-old ATV operator was also hospitalized; his condition has not been publicly released. The driver of the Toyota, identified as a Berlin Heights man, was uninjured and remained at the scene.

Friends and family remembered Campbell as “a fiercely loving big brother and son” and “a terrific young man, always polite and kind to others.”

A GoFundMe page has been established to assist Campbell’s family with medical and funeral costs, as well as other expenses tied to the tragedy. The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.

FATAL ATV CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.

ATVs serve both work and recreational purposes for people of all ages across the country and can be operated safely when handled responsibly. However, when a driver acts carelessly or recklessly, passengers face serious risk of harm in crashes that may well have been preventable.

Consumer Product Safety Commission data shows that approximately 568 adults and 144 children lose their lives in ATV crashes each year, with many more sustaining injuries.

Candice Bond, a seasoned ATV accident attorney, emphasized that in situations like this one, it is critical that an independent inquiry be undertaken promptly by a qualified attorney to preserve evidence and defend the rights of the victim’s family.

“Time is of the essence in cases such as this, and the family of a victim must ensure that evidence is reviewed in an efficient manner,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“An attorney will carefully review what may have contributed to the crash and has the resources to hire expert witnesses, locate witnesses to the crash, and review applicable insurance coverage. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a grieving person during this difficult time while vigorously protecting their legal rights and interests.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Subject to the outcome of the ongoing investigation, the family of Lamonie Campbell may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members in such cases are entitled to seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragedy of this magnitude.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “We deeply understand what families must endure during these unbearable moments, and ensuring that their rights are fully protected is our top priority. A wrongful death attorney will remain closely engaged with the official investigation and work tirelessly to safeguard the legal rights and best interests of those left behind.”
