LUBBOCK, TX, (May 02, 2026) – A police pursuit in South Lubbock early Saturday morning ended in a crash that injured four teenagers, according to the Lubbock Police Department.
Officials said the incident began at approximately 12:18 a.m. when a vehicle fled from a traffic stop at 82nd Street and Frankford Avenue. The pursuit continued southbound until the vehicle went over a curb near 114th Street and struck a utility pole.
One passenger, 17-year-old Kynslee Mitchell, was transported to Covenant Medical Center for evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries. A 16-year-old male was taken to University Medical Center, while two other 17-year-old passengers were also injured.
The driver, identified as 17-year-old Xavier Alaniz, sustained minor injuries. Authorities said Alaniz was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault, reckless driving, and evading arrest.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
