Krisy Wood hurt in US 167 head-on crash in Southside AR

SOUTHSIDE, AR (April 13, 2026) – Two women were injured and one man was killed Monday morning in a three-vehicle collision along U.S. 167 in Southside, according to Arkansas State Police.

Authorities said a northbound 2012 Nissan Altima crossed the centerline near Nelly Belle Lane at approximately 6:51 a.m., colliding head-on with a southbound 2023 GMC Acadia. The Altima then returned to the northbound lane, where it was struck by a 2018 Cadillac.

Krisy Wood, 46, of Locust Grove, was driving the GMC Acadia and was transported to Unity Health for treatment. A 62-year-old Clinton woman driving the Cadillac was also injured and taken to White River Medical Center.

The driver of the Nissan, a 57-year-old man from Judsonia, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials noted that road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.

HEAD-ON CRASH INVESTIGATION

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, early estimates indicate that 39,345 people died in motor vehicle traffic crashes in 2024, a decrease of approximately 3.8 percent from the previous year. This downward trend has continued into 2025, with preliminary data for the first nine months showing an estimated 27,365 fatalities, a 6.4 percent decline compared to the same period in 2024.

Although these numbers show a continued decline, officials emphasize that driver error remains the leading cause of crashes. Speeding, distracted driving, and impairment are still among the primary contributors to fatal head-on collisions nationwide.

“Contributing factors to be examined include road conditions, visibility, and lighting,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“In some cases, accident reconstruction specialists are required to determine exactly how a crash occurred. These resources play a crucial role in helping victims pursue compensation for losses following a collision,” added Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Krisy Wood may have the right to pursue personal injury claims pending an investigation.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often pursue personal injury claims to cover medical expenses, future care, lost income, emotional distress, and pain and suffering.”

“Insurance companies are often indifferent to the growing financial strain faced by injured individuals. An attorney can help advocate for victims and ensure they receive the compensation they deserve,” he added.
