Kimberly Spears injured in Jeep accident in Lauderdale County

LAUDERDALE, AL, (April 30, 2026) – Kimberly Spears, 57, of Florence, was injured Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 43 that also claimed the life of another driver.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the collision occurred at approximately 10:15 a.m. near the intersection of County Line Road 73. Authorities said a Jeep Cherokee struck a Jeep Wrangler, resulting in the Wrangler’s driver being ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the Wrangler, a 61-year-old woman from Saint Joseph, Tennessee, was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Spears, who was a passenger in the Wrangler, sustained injuries and was also airlifted to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. Two 18-year-old occupants of the Cherokee were injured and transported to a hospital, ALEA reported.

State troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

Each year, millions of people are injured in traffic crashes across the United States, many suffering serious or life-changing effects. In 2023 alone, about 2.44 million individuals were injured in motor vehicle accidents, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

As authorities continue to examine the cause and liability in this case, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, stressed the importance of an independent investigation.

“Beyond the work conducted by law enforcement, an attorney can revisit key witness statements, review available surveillance footage, and obtain phone and text records of the at-fault party,” said Bond, a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Acting quickly is critical in these cases, and families must ensure that all evidence is preserved and analyzed in a timely manner,” Bond added.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, Kimberly Spears may be eligible to file a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, explained that the aftermath of a serious injury can bring significant emotional and financial strain, affecting many areas of a victim’s life.

“It is important for injured individuals to secure legal representation when pursuing a personal injury claim, as an attorney can negotiate directly with insurance companies on their behalf,” Formica said.

“Insurance providers often attempt to resolve claims quickly for less than their full value. An experienced attorney will advocate strongly for the client to ensure fair compensation and proper treatment,” he added.
