LAUDERDALE, AL, (April 30, 2026) – Kimberly Spears, 57, of Florence, was injured Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 43 that also claimed the life of another driver.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the collision occurred at approximately 10:15 a.m. near the intersection of County Line Road 73. Authorities said a Jeep Cherokee struck a Jeep Wrangler, resulting in the Wrangler’s driver being ejected from the vehicle.
The driver of the Wrangler, a 61-year-old woman from Saint Joseph, Tennessee, was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Spears, who was a passenger in the Wrangler, sustained injuries and was also airlifted to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. Two 18-year-old occupants of the Cherokee were injured and transported to a hospital, ALEA reported.
State troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
