Kimberling City man seriously hurt in Highway 13 crash

KIMBERLING CITY, MO (March 26, 2026) – A 63-year-old Kimberling City man was seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a crash involving a pickup truck and a fire vehicle in Stone County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 1:55 p.m. at the intersection of Missouri Highway 13 and Trail Ridge Drive. A 2020 Ford F-150 traveling eastbound entered the path of a southbound 2012 GMC TopKick fire vehicle, resulting in a collision.

The passenger in the Ford, identified as a 63-year-old local man, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

The driver of the pickup, a 53-year-old man, was also injured and taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.

Incident Location

CRASH INVESTIGATION

According to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), nearly 40 percent of vehicle crashes occur at or near intersections. These incidents are often caused by drivers running stop signs or traffic signals, frequently due to impatience, reckless driving, or distractions. Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, noted that such crashes require an independent investigation to protect victims’ rights.

“It is essential to determine the exact cause of these types of accidents. An attorney has the resources to review insurance policies, consult expert witnesses, conduct background checks, and identify witnesses. We guide victims and their families through every step of the process,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“Beyond the initial police report, an attorney will thoroughly analyze all contributing factors,” Bond added. “Legal representation includes hiring expert witnesses, reviewing driver histories, locating witnesses, and evaluating insurance coverage. Acting as an advocate, an attorney helps victims navigate what can often be a complex process.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

The victim may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim pending an investigation.

Stefano Formica, of counsel at Bond Legal, said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often pursue a personal injury claim to recover medical expenses, future care costs, lost income, emotional distress, and pain and suffering.”

“Insurance companies are often unconcerned with the rising financial burden faced by injured individuals. An attorney can help. We advocate for victims daily, ensuring insurance companies are held accountable for their obligations,” he added.
