LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — A 57-year-old motorcyclist died on the afternoon of June 28 when a vehicle left the roadway and struck four parked motorcycles.
Kendall Lamar Walker and three other motorcyclists had parked their Harley-Davidson motorcycles on the shoulder. The group stopped under the Longs Pond Road overpass around 3:20 p.m.
A vehicle traveling on Interstate 20 near Longs Pond Road, east of Gilbert, veered off the right side of the road. The vehicle struck all four parked bikes.
Walker, of Augusta, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, the Lexington County Coroner’s Office said.
Three other riders sustained injuries and were transported to Prisma Health Richland Hospital for treatment. Hospital officials have not released their medical conditions. Four people occupied the vehicle that left the roadway, but none were injured.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues investigating the cause of the incident.
