PAINESVILLE, OH, (April 27, 2026) – Kelcey Anne Koenig, 36, of Geneva, was seriously injured Monday night in a motorcycle crash in Painesville Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Authorities said the crash occurred at approximately 8:27 p.m. along Ohio 2 near North Ridge Road. A 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on the highway and was reportedly riding on the left berm while passing other vehicles.
Investigators said the operator attempted to merge back into the lane but lost control of the motorcycle. The bike veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch and an embankment.
Koenig, who was riding as a passenger, sustained serious injuries and was transported by Painesville Township EMS to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. The driver, a 41-year-old Mantua man, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was initially taken to UH TriPoint Medical Center by Perry EMS before being airlifted to UH Cleveland Medical Center.
Officials noted that neither the driver nor Koenig was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Alcohol is suspected to have been a contributing factor.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
