Keith Bembry Sims Charged in Houston Fatal Box Truck Accident

HOUSTON, TX (June 25, 2026) — A 31-year-old woman was struck and killed by a box truck Thursday afternoon in Houston, and the driver has been arrested, according to police.

Authorities said the collision occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the 2401 block of South Gessner Road.

Investigators said the unidentified woman was struck by a box truck driven by 33-year-old Keith Bembry Sims. The victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Sims left the area after the collision but was later located and taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid.

The fatal crash remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Leaving the scene of a traffic accident is a criminal offense. Unfortunately, statistics indicate that more than one hit-and-run collision occurs every minute on roadways across the United States. Many drivers flee because they are impaired, unlicensed, or fear being arrested if they remain at the scene.

Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney, said that in cases such as this, it is essential for an independent investigation to be conducted by an experienced attorney to help safeguard a victim’s family’s legal rights.

“Having the appropriate resources is critical when investigating a hit-and-run accident case and establishing negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst for Accident Injury News.

“Road conditions, traffic sign visibility, and roadway lighting are all potential contributing factors that should be carefully examined. These investigative steps are vital in helping families who have lost a loved one to a hit-and-run driver pursue justice and the financial compensation they deserve.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of the woman killed in this accident may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of wrongful death victims may seek damages for the loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.

“We understand the challenges families face after losing a loved one, and protecting their legal rights is extremely important,” said Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.

“A wrongful death attorney can closely monitor the official investigation while helping safeguard the family’s best interests. Surviving relatives may be entitled to recover damages for the loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.”
