CHEROKEE, AL (April 01, 2026) – A Cedar Bluff woman was among two people injured Wednesday morning in a head-on crash in Cherokee County that also claimed one life.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the collision occurred at about 7:15 a.m. on Alabama 273 near Cherokee County Road 48, roughly four miles north of Leesburg. A 2010 Nissan Altima and a 2024 Honda HR-V collided head-on.
Katie G. Miller, 22, who was driving the Honda, sustained injuries and was transported to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia.
The driver of the Nissan was also hospitalized. A passenger in the Nissan, a 40-year-old Hanceville man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The ALEA Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate.
