VILLA PARK, IL, (October 15, 2025) – A woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run following a head-on collision that injured two women on Oct. 15 in Villa Park.
Authorities said the crash occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. near W. Ridge Road and Westmore Avenue when a driver crossed into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle head-on.
Karina Alonso, 37, of Villa Park, allegedly fled the scene on foot but was arrested about 10 minutes later one block away near James Street and Westmore Avenue. Police reported Alonso was slurring her speech and smelled of alcohol. Her blood alcohol concentration measured 0.158, and officers found two bottles of tequila in her vehicle.
Two women involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Alonso with aggravated DUI (fourth offense), failure to report an accident involving injury, and driving with a suspended license. The investigation is ongoing.
