CRAWFORD, MO (April 1, 2026) – A Kansas City man was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 44 in Crawford County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Authorities said a Hyundai Palisade changed lanes near mile marker 201.4 and collided with a Dodge Ram pickup driven by the 50-year-old man.
The man was transported to Phelps Health with serious injuries. A 13-year-old passenger in the Hyundai sustained moderate injuries.
Approximately 2.2 million people were injured in motor vehicle accidents across the country in 2023, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The NHTSA reports that speeding is the leading cause of crashes, followed by impairment, improper lane usage, failure to yield, and distracted driving.
