SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, S.C. — Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run accident that injured three people on May 1 at Sunrise Presbyterian Church on Middle Street.
Justin Adams, 36, was identified as the suspect. He allegedly drove onto church property, striking an adult and two children before fleeing the scene on foot. Law enforcement launched a search, issuing a shelter-in-place warning for residents.
Police located Adams hiding on a boat in the 3000 block of Jasper Boulevard. Officers took him into custody and transported him to the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center.
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Adams faces three counts of attempted murder and first-degree assault and battery.
Deputies continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
