Juan Marin-Ramirez killed in I-24 Nashville rear-end collision, MNPD says

NASHVILLE, TN, (April 23, 2026) – A 29-year-old man was killed and another driver was injured Thursday evening in a high-speed rear-end collision on Interstate 24 in Nashville, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD).

Authorities said the crash occurred around 6:50 p.m. near Whites Creek Pike. A BMW 550 traveling east slowed due to merging traffic when it was struck from behind by a Honda Civic approaching at a high rate of speed.

The driver of the Honda, identified as Juan Marin-Ramirez, was transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

The 28-year-old driver of the BMW was also taken to Skyline Medical Center with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Police reported no signs of impairment for either driver at the scene. Preliminary findings indicate that excessive speed by the Honda Civic was a primary contributing factor. The investigation remains ongoing.

CRASH INVESTIGATION

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding was a factor in 29 percent of all traffic fatalities in 2023, resulting in 11,775 deaths nationwide. Excessive speed not only contributes to a significant number of fatal crashes but also increases the severity of collisions, making serious injuries or fatalities more likely.

“Factors such as road conditions, visibility, and lighting must always be carefully evaluated,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“In some cases, accident reconstruction specialists are necessary to determine exactly what occurred. These resources play a critical role in helping victims or their families pursue compensation for losses resulting from a crash,” Bond added.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, a victim may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Stefano Formica, Of Counsel with Bond Legal, noted that the stress and uncertainty following a serious injury can be overwhelming, affecting many areas of life, including family, employment, finances, and overall well-being.

“It is essential for victims to retain an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, as legal representation can negotiate with insurance companies on their behalf,” Formica said.

“Insurance providers often attempt to push quick settlements that do not reflect the true value of a claim. An attorney will advocate strongly to ensure victims are treated fairly and receive the compensation they deserve,” he added.
