HARTWELL, GA, (April 30, 2026) – A 30-year-old Hartwell man has been charged in connection with a head-on crash that seriously injured another driver late Thursday night in Hart County, authorities said.
According to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, Joshua Anderson Sherrill was driving a 2020 Subaru Outback northbound on Reed Creek Highway near Tahoe Drive at approximately 10:45 p.m. when he crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound 2017 Ford Edge.
The driver of the Ford Edge sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Following a preliminary investigation, deputies determined that Sherrill was under the influence at the time of the crash. Authorities also reported that he admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the collision.
Sherrill has been charged with driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane, and serious injury by vehicle, which is classified as a felony.
The crash remains under investigation.
