WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A pickup truck struck a bicyclist May 9 at the intersection of Collin Drive and Kirk Road, causing fatal injuries.
At 9:45 p.m., a 24-year-old male drove a 2020 Ford F-150 westbound on Collin Drive. He accelerated while turning south onto Kirk Road and hit a bicyclist crossing the road.
Joseph Albert, 69, suffered fatal injuries in the accident. Emergency personnel transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on May 12.
The impact threw Albert from his bicycle onto the pavement. The Ford driver stopped in the northbound travel lanes.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. Officials urge anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
